Spearfishing Superstore
The Spearfishing Superstore 20 pk 1.9mm copper crimps are ideally used to secure your shooting line.
They are manufactured from copper to aid in corrosion resistance and to make them easier to crimp. The copper crimps have a non-abrasive finish with no burrs or sharp edges. The most common use for copper crimps is on mono shooting lines that connect your spear shaft to your speargun when fired. To give you the best holding power on the mono with your crimp you need to make sure you use the correct size crimp to go with your mono. These 1.9mm copper crimps are to be used on 1.7mm mono line to enable it to secure closed with minimal chance of letting go.
When crimping closed copper crimps you should only use Crimping Pliers designed specifically for crimping. If you use everyday pliers to attempt to close the crimps, you risk the crimp not closing good and releasing the line under pressure, or the crimp possibly cutting the mono causing it to break under pressure.
These same 1.9mm copper crimps can also be used on 1.7mm stainless cable or 1.7mm mono coated stainless cable. These kinds of cables are used more when you are targeting large pelagic species of fish where you need more abrasion resistance and line strength.
