Description
The Ocean Hunters Chameleon hoods Bib/skirt around the base goes under your wetsuit, as the wetsuit helps then lock the hood in place so it does not rise up your neck exposing your neck to stingers or let cool water in.
The benefit of flatlock stitching is it’s not raised stitching that creates a lumpy seam, which in turn presses against your body between the wetsuit making it uncomfortable over extended periods. The seams that come into contact directly onto your face are glued and have external stitching only so you have no uncomfortable stitching at all in contact with your face.
Remember when you put on a wetsuit hood it is meant to be a snug fit as this is critical to its performance. They are not meant to be loose and have excess bagging of wetsuit around the head. If they are loose they will allow water in that will lower your temperature and defeat the purpose of wearing a wetsuit.
In many water sports such as spearfishing, snorkelling and scuba diving wetsuit Hoods are worn to keep the head warm in the same way that a wetsuit would. The neoprene material is impervious to water and acts as a skin of insulation trapping the wearer's body heat in.
