- The Marseillaise style belt is the safest of all free diving belts
- 5cm in width to fit all standard lead weights
- Flexible elastic rubber weight belt
- Stainless steel roller buckle
- 155cm in length
The Salvimar Marseillaise belt has a stainless roller buckle which is a quick release on demand buckle that will let you drop your weight belt in a single motion in an emergency while in the water. It will however not open when dragged past rocks or over the gunnel of the boat.
The belt has small diameter buckle holes and the buckle pin will flick 90 degrees to the belt on releasing it to minimise the chance of the buckle re-engaging on release.
As you dive at depth your wetsuit compresses, also as you dive down your body shape changes somewhat around your stomach while you are inverted upside down. With standard webbing belts, you tighten them to fit you, but they become loose with the compression on your wetsuit at depth. The belt then moves around as do the lead weights becoming irritable and uncomfortable. The fantastic thing about the Salvimar Rubber style weight belt is it is flexible. So you set it as normal and as your suit compresses the stretching rubber belt shrinks down keeping it a nice snug fit. As you rise from the deep and your suit uncompresses your belt stretches out as well always keeping a perfect fit. Once you use a rubber style belt you will never want to go back to the old style webbing weight belts again.
